We did not put up a good total on the board: Sachin Tendulkar on India’s semifinal loss against England

Sharing his thoughts on India’s loss against England in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup, India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar urged Team India fans not to judge the team on the basis of this one performance. The Little Master also accepted that India didn’t put up a good total on the board, which made it a lot easier for the opposition to chase it down.

“I know that the semi-finals against England was very disappointing. Let’s accept that we did not put up a good total on the board. It was a tough game for us, a bad and disappointing defeat. We have been World number 1 T-20 side as well,” Sachin Tendulkar told news agency ANI.

The Rohit Sharma-led side on Thursday suffered a crushing 10-wicket loss to England in the T20 World Cup semi-final to incur a heartbreaking exit. The Indian attack failed to break the England opening stand of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales as the pair cruised to a record 170-run stand, wrapping up the chase with four overs to spare.

Tendulkar asserted that Team India reached the Number 1 spot in the ranking, which is something that does not happen overnight and fans should not judge the team on the basis of this performance.

“To get to that Number 1 spot, it does not happen overnight. Let us not judge our team on the basis of this performance,” said Tendulkar.

“Players also did not want to go out and fail. In sports, these ups and downs are there. We have to be in it together,” Tendulkar added.
