What time is the World Series tonight? TV schedule, channel to watch Dodgers vs. Rays Game 1

The 2020 World Series is so cliché it hurts.

The juggernaut Dodgers, with a payroll that dwarfs most big-budget action movies, take on the little engine that could Rays, an art-house movie script written on a Starbucks cup.

But don’t get it twisted, the Rays are no longer the cute little brother of the AL East, and they’re bringing more than just a diminutive payroll to the dance. Armed with newfound swagger and unorthodox strategies, Tampa Bay and its stable of pitchers who throw 98 pose a challenge to the Dodgers. The Rays upended the powerful Yankees and the Astros en route to a World Series appearance, clearly not taking the easy path in the American League.

Now, with the element of surprise firmly in the rear view mirror, the Rays are a legitimate threat to the Dodgers.

The 2020 Championship Series were one for the books: the Rays took a quick 3-0 lead over the Astros, eventually winning the series in seven games after a few mini-heart attacks and near misses. The Dodgers battled back from a 3-1 series deficit versus the Braves, nearly being served another early exit in a year with championship hopes.

While it’s the first visit to the World Series for the Rays since 2008, the Dodgers are now staring down their third opportunity in four years to capture a championship. Given the Dodgers’ pipeline of talent, the window to win isn’t going to close any time soon — but there are still some questions to why the Dodgers can’t break through.
