WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to create polls in group chats. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp has submitted a new beta update for its iOS app, bringing the version up to 22.6.0.70. The beta update reveals that the Meta-owned messaging platform is developing a group polls feature. At present, group polls are available in messaging apps like Facebook Messenger, Telegram and others.
How will the WhatsApp group polls feature work?
The report says that WhatsApp users will be able to create a poll for group chats. They will then be asked to enter the poll question and send it to a WhatsApp group. Both the question asked and answers will be end-to-end encrypted.
Polls will be available only in WhatsApp groups, which means only people in the group will be able to see the poll and its results. The group polls feature was spotted in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature for Android users. It will soon allow Android users to pause and resume voice recordings. Till now, the feature was available for WhatsApp users on Apple iOS and desktop only. As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started to roll out a new beta update for Android users. After the update, Android users can also pause a voice note recording on their smartphone. It will work similarly on the iOS platform.
Android users will be able to see a new pause button when they swipe up after pressing the recording button. Once paused, the same button will be used to resume the recording. The new feature will be helpful for sharing longer recordings and it will also save time for the users as they do not have to re-record a voice note in case of some disruption.
