These payments are made to Britons who have reached state pension age during the cold winter months. Everyone should have now received theirs – here’s what you need to do if you haven’t received yours.

As the cost of living crisis rumbles on, many people would benefit from a financial boost.

With the energy cap pushing energy bills up a staggering 54 percent, some will be wondering how they are going to meet these payments.

Winter Fuel Payments are made every year by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to those over 65 to help them meet additional heating costs.

People under 80 years old should get £200 while those over 80 will receive a payment of £300.

Winter Fuel Payments are made automatically but anyone who hasn’t received their top up yet should get in touch.

Applicants must have also lived in the UK for at least one day during the week of September 20 to 26, 2021 to qualify.

However, people could still be entitled to a payout if they now live in Switzerland or the European Economic Area (EEA).

If anyone hasn’t yet received a payment, they can go to Gov.uk and search for Winter Fuel Payments or call 0800 731 0160.

There’s no better time for Britons to make sure they are getting all the Government help they are entitled to.

Around one million pensioners are estimated to be missing out on Pension Credit.

There’s also the Warm Home Discount scheme paid by the energy providers and Cold Weather Payments of £25.

There’s a benefit checker on Gov.uk where people can work out what they could be entitled to.
