Wolves ‘consider’ emergency Andy Carroll transfer as Diego Costa move on brink of collapse | Football | Sport

Carroll, who joined Liverpool 11 years ago in a bumper £35million deal, was last seen in the Championship with Reading and West Bromwich Albion. Both clubs only offered him short-term deals and, although he managed five goals in 23 second-tier appearances last campaign, many teams remain turned off by his chequered injury history.

The 6ft 4in target man missed a whopping 113 matches over the course of five years with West Ham with ankle, groin and knee problems halting periods of steady progress in east London. It remains to be seen if Wolves will need to call on Carroll or whether they can revive the deal for Costa, which has been described as ‘difficult’ by an expert in the field.
