Woman hasn’t put the heating on since buying £57 Oodie

As we draw ever closer to winter, and the cost of living crisis continues to bite hard, households up and down the country are desperately trying to find ways to save money on their sky-rocketing energy bills. One such way appears to be the Oodie, with people claiming it eliminates the need to turn on the heating.

The Australian brand has taken the world by storm in recent weeks after it appeared on a Money Saving Expert forum, with one user claiming they had not used the central heating since purchasing one.

StokeonTrentLive‘s Flora Byatt decided to test the Oodie after a friend suggested she get one; here is how she fared.

Flora said: “The Oodies can seem expensive – I got mine on sale for just under £60. At full price, they’re around £80. But I also trust in my best friend’s judgement.”

Following a cold day working from home, she decided to buy one.

She said: “I chose one patterned with chicken nuggets and fries which looks fairly ridiculous on work video calls – but follow your passion, right?

“There are also Rick and Morty ones, tie-dye, garlic bread, pizza, Friends, Minions, Looney Tunes, as well as plain ones. Oodie also does sleep t-shirts and weighted blankets.

“It arrived in just three days, and was vacuum-wrapped.

“As soon as I opened the package, it expanded like a giant marshmallow.

“I was sceptical as to whether or not it would keep me warm – but it’s an absolute game changer.”

She added: “As a connoisseur of all things cosy, it was good to see the Oodie was as soft as the product description promised it would be.

“The outer fabric is silky soft, with the thick interior lining a very soft Sherpa fleece.

“In short, it’s the warmest thing I have ever owned.

“The tips of my fingers are still cold, but the rest of my body is toasty warm.

“I’m only 5ft, and the Oodie hits just below my knees.

“It’s effectively a hoody and a blanket in one, and it’s incredibly soft and thick.

“For my taller-than-average friend, the Oodie hits just above her knees.”

“Since then, my mum has decided to get one for her and my brother, as they come in kids sizes too.

“So far, as well as pretty much living in it at home, I’ve also used it as a blanket over my side of the duvet at night to help keep me warm.

“On top of that, the Oodie is also vegan and cruelty-free.

“Overall, I think it’ll be effective at keeping the cold out – and £57 seems minimal compared to our current £700 bill.

“I can’t see myself ever crawling out of it again.”
