Xbox has good news for gamers as a much-awaited feature is coming to the consoles. According to a report by XDA Developers, Discord’s cross-platform voice chat feature has started rolling out for Xbox Insiders. Microsoft has updated the Xbox Wire blog post to announce the same and has mentioned that this feature will allow Xbox console players to chat with their friends and other gamers on both desktop and mobile. The blog post reads: “Get ready to connect with your Discord friends and communities on Xbox!”
Discord voice chat feature on Xbox: Availability
As per the blog, the Discord voice chat feature will be available for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles where players will be allowed to chat with anyone on Discord via voice channels or group calls directly from their console, making it easy to connect with friends across mobile, Xbox and PC. The latest update has already started rolling out for Xbox Insiders and will soon be made available for everyone, the blog claims.
How to set up the new feature
Xbox console players who are looking forward to using this feature need to set it up by following the mentioned process. However, it is important to note that if a user has earlier their Discord and Xbox accounts will need to re-do it. The report mentions that users can initiate the process from the Xbox Guide by selecting “Try Discord Voice on Xbox” and scanning the QR code that is shown.
How will this new Xbox feature work
This new feature will allow console gamers to join either group calls or voice channels on Discord. Once users are in voice chat, they will be able to see the participants on the call and will also be allowed to adjust the volume or even switch between Discord and Xbox Party Chat (if needed). The blog mentions that the audio controls will be built into the Xbox Guide (just like Party Chat) and the Discord overlay is also going to be available. The report mentions that this feature can be used to find out “who’s chatting at any time” which can be helpful during the heat of the battle.
