Xiaomi Mi 5X Special Edition Announced in China

Xiaomi today has officially announced the Xiaomi Mi 5X Special Edition, the new special edition of Mi 5X comes in red color option.  The smartphone comes with the price tag of 1499 Yuan (Rs.14200/ $220 approx). Pre-booking of the smartphones is already open and sale will starts from November 1 via both online and offline channels.

The special edition of Xiaomi Mi 5X has a pure red back cover while the front panel has a black colour. Notably, apart from color option there is no difference between the regular and special edition of the smartphone.

To recall, the Xiaomi Mi 5X runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and sports a 5.5” full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) LTPS curved glass display with brightness up to 450 nits. The smartphone is powered by a 2 GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

For photography, the Xiaomi Mi 5X sports a dual camera setup with the combination of 12MP wide-angle with 1.25-micron pixel sensor and f/2.2 aperture along with another 12MP telephoto with 1-micron pixel sensor and f/2.6 aperture (similar to Mi 6). It comes with features like Portrait Mode for bokeh effects. On the front, it features a 5MP camera with real-time beautification mode.

Connectivity options of Xiaomi Mi 5X include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, infrared, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. The smartphone is powered by a 3080mAh battery which sounds decent enough given the efficient chipset. The device measures 155.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm and weighs 165 grams.
