Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 Explore Edition and Mi 8 SE with Dual Rear Cameras Launched
Xiaomi has today launched its latest flagship smartphones – the Xiaomi Mi 8 along with Mi 8 Explore Edition and Mi 8 SE in China. The Mi 8 Explore Edition variants come with more RAM, in-display fingerprint scanner and 3D face unlock while the Mi 8 SE comes with a smaller display and trimmed down specifications.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 comes with the price tag of CNY 2,699 (Rs. 28,600 approx.) for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant, CNY 2,999 (Rs. 31,600 approx.) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant, and CNY 3,299 (Rs. 34,800 approx.) for the 6GB RAM/ 256GB inbuilt storage model. It comes in White, Gold, Light Blue, and Black colour options. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage and has a price tag of CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 39,000). Both these variants will be available in China from June 5th.
Talking about the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 8 runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. It sports a 6.21” full-HD+ (1080×2248 pixels) 18.7:9 Samsung AMOLED display with 88.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, and support for Always On display. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. As mentioned above the Mi 8 offers 6GB of RAM with 64GB/ 128GB and 256GB of internal storage while the Mi 8 Explorer Edition offers 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage.
For photography, the Xiaomi Mi 8 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of two 12MP sensors 1.4-micron pixel, 4-axis OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, AI portraits, AI scene detection, and video detection. Xiaomi claims a DxOMark photo score of 105. The AI-enabled dual camera offers presentable details in lowly lit surrounds and there are Studio Light effects which will generate professional-like enhanced portrait shots on any conditions. On the front, it has a 20MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 1.8-micron pixels, AI portrait selfies, and beautification mode. The front camera also equipped with facial recognition technology along with an Infrared lighting sensor that scans 4096 facial points even in the dark and unlocks the device in any lighting condition.
The Xiaomi Mi8 is fuelled by a 3400mAh battery Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C, and dual-frequency GPS – this feature eliminates the interference from buildings and reduces signal delays, increasing the accuracy of navigating.
