On Thursday, Xiaomi has launched the successor to the Mi Max phablet, the Mi Max 2, the new phablet from Xiaomi will be available in two storage varients 64GB variant priced at CNY 1,699 (Rs. 16,000 approx) and 128GB storage variant priced at CNY 1,999 (Rs. 19,000 approx). The Mi Max 2 will be going on sale in China from June 1. Xiaomi has not confirmed when the Mi Max 2 will launch in India. However, the company has promised Mi phones will be coming to the market. The Mi Max was launched in India last year, starting at Rs 14,999. We’ll have to wait and see if its successor also makes its way here soon.
Talking about design, the Mi Max 2 sports a full matel uni-body design, Xiaomi claims that it follows a symmetrical design with charging port and speaker grilles placed at the bottom panel. And fingerprint scanner given at the back of the phablet.
Coming on specification, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system. The phablet features a massive 6.44-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display which is highlight of the smartphone. The Mi Max 2 is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC and offers 4GB RAM and 64/128 internal storage which is not expandable.
In terms of photography, The Mi Max 2 sports a 12MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and PDAF support. The company is using a Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25μm large pixel Size Company promising a bigger pixel size for better low-light shots. The company claims the sensor is identical to the one used on the flagship Xiaomi Mi 6. On the front end there is 5MP front facing camera for talking selfies and making video chat.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 also sports stereo speakers which the company says is a big improvement over the single speaker on the original Mi Max. The smartphone also comes with improved one-handed use which means that the phone will come with software feature that improve usability. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and a USB Type-C port for power and data transfer. The phablet retains the standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so you don’t have to worry about using older accessories with the new device.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a massive 5300 mAh battery which claims to survie 2 days on a single charge and can runs videos for up to 18 hours, play music up to 10 days, playing games up to nine hours and give talktime of up to 57 hours. Its also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 which can charge the battery up to 68 percent in one hour. It is also comes with reverse charging support
