Xiaomi Redmi S2 with 16MP Front Camera and 5.99-inch 18:9 Display Launched

Last week, Xiaomi has launched its first selfie-focused smartphone dubbed as Xiaomi Redmi S2 in China. The smartphone comes with the price tag of 999 Yuan (approx. Rs 10,560) for the 3GB RAM variant and 1299 Yuan (approx. Rs 13,722) for the 4GB RAM option. It comes in Gray, Rose gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver colour options. It will go on sale on at 10 am CST on May 17 on Suning.com.

Talking about the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. It sports a 5.99” HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) 18:9 display with a 70.8 percent NTSC color gamut. The smartphone is powered by a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It offers 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD.

For photography, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup with a combination of a 12MP primary camera with PDAF, LED flash and a 5MP secondary camera for AI portrait shots. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie shooter equipped with AI portrait and AI beauty mode to give you beautiful selfies.  The front camera also features facial recognition technology to unlock the device.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is fueled by a 3,080 mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, IR Blaster, 3.5mm audio jack, and a micro USB port. It measures 160.73 x 77.26 mm x 8.1 mm and weighs 170 grams.
