Xiaomi Redmi Y2 to Go on Sale First Time in India Today
Xiaomi has launched its latest selfie-centric smartphone – Xiaomi Y2 in India last week. The smartphone is set to go on sale for the first time in India today at 12 PM via Amazon India, mi.com, and Mi Home stores. The smartphone comes with the price tag of Rs 9,999 for the 3GB and 32GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option is priced at Rs 12,999. It will be available in Gray, Rose gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver colour options.
As for launch offers, the company is giving Rs. 500 instant discount on purchase with ICICI credit and debit cards. Airtel is offering Redmi Y2 buyers a Rs. 1,800 instant cashback and up to 240GB of free data.
Talking about the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. It sports a 5.99” HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) 18:9 display with 450nits brightness, 10000:1 contrast ratio and 70.8 percent NTSC colour gamut. The smartphone is powered by a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. it offers 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage, the internal storage can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
For photography, the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes equipped with a dual-rear camera setup. It has a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor with 1.25-micron-pixel and f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP secondary camera with 1.12-micron pixel, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, EIS, and an LED flash module. It is driven by AI-based semantic segmentation deep learning algorithms that can accurately detect edge for capturing marvelous portrait shots. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie shooter with Beautify 4.0 for capturing for AI-driven beautified photos. Both front and rear cameras offer Portrait mode Bokeh effects.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y2 is fuelled by a 3080mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a micro-USB 2.0 port. Sensors onboard include accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, infrared, and a proximity sensor. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back.
