Meta-owned WhatsApp is regularly working on improving the instant-messaging experience on the app. It has a host of features which include end-to-end encryption, disappearing messages, and more. In the last few days, a string of media reports have suggested that the company is working on various features that are being tested by some beta users. Here are five of those features, in no particular order, that are likely to make it to final release and roll out to users in near future.
Edit message after sending
It is probably one of the most anticipated features and ‘editing a message’ after sending could be a great addition to the lot. Sometimes users can make mistakes while typing and send a wrong text. They usually issue a correction by sending another message with an asterisk symbol (*). WABetaInfo recently said that WhatsApp is working on this feature and users will be able to edit a message within 15 minutes of sending it. The message that is altered will have an “Edited” tag on the message.
Increase in WhatsApp group participants limit to 1024
WABetaInfo claims that WhatsApp is working on increasing the maximum number of users from the current limit of 512 members to 1,024 people in a single group. A select number of WhatsApp beta testers on Android as well as on iOS will soon have access to the feature. Its competitor Telegram supports group chats with up to 200,000 participants.

WhatsApp Premium Subscription
The instant-messaging platform is reportedly working on offering Premium subscription to those who are using WhatsApp Business. If subscribed, businesses can use this feature to have access to premium features that will not be available to those who are using the free version. These premium features include expanded reach and enhanced device connection. The feature is under beta testing on both Android and iOS.
Adding captions to documents
Currently, WhatsApp allows users to add captions to GIFs, photos and videos they are sharing with their friends. WABetaInfo says that the Meta-owned app is working on a small feature that will allow users to add captions to documents. This feature will help users easily find documents in a chat.
Screenshot blocking
As per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will block users from taking screenshots of certain images and videos. WhatsApp released a new version of view once images and videos feature to some beta testers on Android that will prevent people from taking a screenshot, or a screen recording, of View Once images and videos. This will be done in accordance with the security policy associated with the View Once images.
