8 Small Ways To Spruce Up Your Home Without Buying Anything

Many people are spending more time at home right now with the pandemic, and all that time indoors might inspire you to spruce up your home. You can do some things that don’t cost much, and in some cases, you don’t need to buy anything at all.

Check out these cool ways to spruce up your home without leaving home!

Rearrange Your Living Room Furniture

If you are spending a lot of time watching TV in your living room, it could be the perfect time to mix up the furniture. For the best TV viewing, angle your sofa and chairs, so every place seems like the best seat in the room. If you want to discourage watching TV, turn the chairs so the coffee table is the room’s centerpiece. Your family can play board games or put together a puzzle there.

Make the space cozy by bringing inside chairs, pillows, and blankets from other rooms.

Find Accessories In Your Home

If you are tired of looking at the same decor as you sit on your sofa, look in other rooms for art, vases, and other decorative objects. Merely taking the candlesticks from the dining room table and putting them on the TV stand can give the room a new look.

Go Through Your Storage

If you have a basement or attic full of books, paintings, and old furniture, you could have treasures up there you’ve forgotten about. Take a look at what you have in storage. Furniture that was ‘outdated’ could be back in style, and you could have old pictures and paintings in there you haven’t thought about in years.

Review Your Windows

If you do not have a window seat, think about putting an upholstered bench under your living room window, or place a cozy side chair there.

To allow light, be sure other decors don’t block the windows.

Consider Some Mood Lighting

If the lighting in your home is dull or harsh, think about rearranging your table and floor lamps around the house. Shaded lamps tend to diffuse soft light, creating a cozy feeling. So think about adding one of them to your living room and other rooms in which you spend the most time.

Redecorate Your Mantel

One of the easiest ways to spruce up your family or living room is to put new decorations on your mantel. One idea is to hang a large, framed photograph or artwork about 12 inches above the mantel’s top. This brings the eye towards the ceiling and makes the room taller. Putting a mirror in this space also can enhance depth in a small room.

Focus On The Kitchen Counters

Countertops looking cluttered? Try the tray trick! If you have a serving tray, take it out. Use it to gather everything that is cluttering your counters – from mail to pencils to medicine bottles. When the tray overflows, you know you need to get rid of a few things.

Rework The Shelves

For that room that needs a fast refresh, try taking everything off the shelves. Dust off every shelf. Then put all items back on the shelves, but put them in new combinations and arrangements. If you have not moved these knick-knacks in years, this little rearrangement can change the room.

Now you can see how easy it is to remake the look and feel of your home. You don’t have to leave, and your wallet isn’t a bit lighter!
