Tyson Fury makes Liz Truss joke after the PM’s resignation interrupts his press conference | Boxing | Sport
Tyson Fury reacted to Liz Truss’ resignation as Prime Minister by comparing her time in office to his brief retirement from professional boxing.
On the same day that Fury and Derek Chisora made their way up to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to announce their trilogy fight, Truss stepped down as Prime Minister after a turbulent two months leading parliament.
Reacting to the news during an interview with BT Sport after the launch press conference, Fury said: “Has she stepped down? Has she? That was almost as brief as Tyson Fury’s retirement that one.
“But I don’t want to criticise anybody, congratulations on becoming the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, excellent result and yeah, wish her nothing but the best of luck in the future.”
Fury has since unretired for good and is now expected to defend his WBC title against Chisora on December 3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after negotiations broke down to stage the long-awaited grudge match with Anthony Joshua on the same date.
