Liz Truss has announced her resignation as Prime Minister today, October 20. She was appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on September 5, replacing Boris Johnson. Despite now being out of a job, Ms Truss has a multi-million pound fortune in the bank.
According to Money Transfers, the former Prime Minister has a net worth of £8.4million.
This is a huge fortune Ms Truss has been able to accumulate over the years thanks to various jobs in politics.
Before becoming Prime Minister, she was serving as Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, from 2021.
Ms Truss was also appointed as Minister for Women and Equalities in 2019.

She was appointed to the Cabinet as Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in 2014.
In July 2016, following David Cameron’s resignation, Ms Truss became Secretary of State for Justice, and later Lord Chancellor.
This was a pivotal moment in political history as she was the first female Lord Chancellor in the thousand-year history of the office.
Ms Truss was then given the role of Chief Secretary to the Treasury in 2017, and later Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade in 2019.

In September 2021 came her promotion to Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
Three months later, in December 2021, she was appointed the Government’s chief negotiator with the European Union and UK chair of the EU–UK Partnership Council.
Alongside her political career, Ms Truss has published two books, co-authoring After the Coalition in 2011, and Britannica Unchained in 2012.
As for her personal life, Ms Truss is married to accountant Hugh O’Leary, whom she wed in 2000. The pair have two daughters.
From 2004 until mid-2005, she had an extramarital affair with the married MP Mark Field, whom the Conservative Party had appointed as her political mentor.
Given the name Mary Elizabeth Truss at birth, the former Prime Minister was born in Oxford but was raised in Scotland and Leeds. Her family moved to Paisley when she was four years old, living there from 1979 to 1985.
Ms Truss attended a secondary comprehensive school in Leeds after completing her primary education in Paisley. She later went on to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University.
While there, she was an active member of the Liberal Democrat party and the president of Oxford University Liberal Democrats. During her time as a Liberal Democrat, Ms Truss supported the legalisation of cannabis and the abolition of the monarchy, and campaigned against the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
Ms Truss joined the Conservative Party in 1996.
