Though Adele was publicly heckled by furious fans after her decision to pull out of a string of Las Vegas shows just hours before she was due on stage, she will now face the music by performing live at the BRITs. The mask-clad singer was spotted touching down in the UK over the weekend and making her way to London’s Heathrow Airport’s flashy Windsor Suite, after leaving some of her British fans, who had booked tickets to watch her in the US, thousands of pounds out of pocket after pulling out of the Vegas residency.

Her arrival back in the UK comes after the star reportedly decided to ride out the scandal with the support of boyfriend Rich Paul at his Los Angeles mansion.

Adele has been nominated for four gongs at the prestigious showbiz event – and she contradicted previous reports that she would only appear by video link after taking to Instagram to confirm her appearance on stage.

“Hiya, so I’m really happy to say that I am performing at the Brits…!” she had announced in a post to almost 50 million avid followers.

The emotional photograph accompanying the text pictured her laughing jubilantly – a million miles away from the tearful video of last month where she confessed: “My show just ain’t ready.”

“Anddddd I’ll also be popping in to see Graham [Norton] for a chat on the couch while I’m in town too!”

Hitting back at rumours that there was “trouble in paradise” between herself and LA-based boyfriend Rich Paul, Adele clarified that they are still very much together with the words: “Oh, and Rich sends his love.”

In the aftermath of her disastrous Las Vegas announcement, some had vowed to “cancel” Adele and boycott her music, but it seems as though she has come through the scandal smiling.

4.4 million followers hit the like button on her latest announcement – although not everyone had forgiven and forgotten as easily.

“Any news on the Las Vegas residency?” enquired @mandytaylor2, before admitting: “Still sitting with $1500 worth of tickets…..”

However, other fans flooded the post with tears of happiness emojis, declaring their idol a “queen”.

Other live performers on the night will include Liam Gallagher, Dave, Doja Cat, Holly Humberstone and Ed Sheeran.

Adele will appear as one of four stars who are the top nominees of the night and all up for four gongs each, along with Ed Sheeran, Little Simz and Dave.

They will be competing with Sam Fender for the Artist Of The Year award.

David Guetta is nominated for three awards for his adrenalin-pumping dance tracks, while in the international artist category, the likes of Taylor Swift and Lil Nas X will go head to head to compete for the top spot.

Sir Elton John is also a nominee at the event – for the first time in two decades.

Bubbly radio DJ Clara Amfo will join broadcaster Maya Jama to welcome Adele and the other nominees on the red carpet tonight at London’s 02 Arena.

Meanwhile, comedian Mo Gilligan will replace previous host Jack Whitehall.

For the first time ever, the awards ceremony has chosen to go woke by eliminating gender-based categories and ensuring every award is gender-neutral.

There are also more female nominees than there have been for over a decade, with 18 female artists and groups shortlisted for a gong.

To catch the action, check out ITV’s live footage of the event, screened tonight at 8pm.
