We have been hearing a lot about the next Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare 2, but what about the other popular titles from the franchise. Thanks to a report by WhatIfGaming, we have heard about another popular title under Call of Duty’s belt. It seems that Advanced Warfare is the title where the attention will be diverting too, after the release of Modern Warfare 2. The next game that is reportedly in development is Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 2 and it is being developed by Sledgehammer Games.

As the report goes, as we all know Sledgehammer Games’ previous title, Vanguard didn’t reach the expectations we all hoped for, so the developer had to pitch a new idea to the team. They decided to go with a title that they are well versed with, which will also add a new theme to the Call of Duty title apart from the running and gunning. They decided to work on the next Advanced Warfare title, which will involve more futuristic technology based gameplay. It seems Advanced Warfare 2 is not going to see the light of day till 2025.

Popular Call of Duty Leaker, TheGhostOfHope, has also confirmed this report through a tweet. Talking about TheGhostOfHope, his latest tweet has some intriguing revelations about Modern Warfare 2’s future. He had reported last month that Infinity Ward was planning to release all of the 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 maps together as post launch content. His new tweet states that these maps are indeed coming, to celebrate 20 years of Call of Duty and will be dubbed as “greatest hits map pack”. The intriguing detail about this map is that it will be a paid DLC, and will release in the second year of MW2 as post launch content.

Players have mixed opinions about the information, some of them are ready to pay the premium if it means that they will get the iconic maps with enhanced quality. On the other hand, some of them feel that this content should be provided for free as they are already paying a premium price for the title. We don’t know what’s in store for Modern Warfare 2’s Year 2, players will just have to wait and see what Activision’s got cooking for them.
