For former American gymnast Aly Raisman, life is much more than just winning and competing.

Addressing students at the University Lecture Series (ULS), the three-time Olympic gold medallist advised students that it is important to ensure to be a good person. “People will forget how many medals you have, but they won’t forget the person you are,” she was quoted as saying by www.usforacle.com.

Raisman said she loves spending time with her family and friends. “I feel like the Aly that people may know is probably the gymnast, and some know me as being a survivor. I like to say that I am the oldest of four. I love being a big sister. I love hanging out with my friends and my family,” she remarked.

Meanwhile, Raisman thanked her parents for being a pillar of support to her. “I feel very lucky that my parents were very supportive and wanted me to be happy. When I would finish practice, they weren’t asking me why I didn’t do this skill. I truly knew that if I didn’t do well, if I didn’t bring home the gold medal, I knew that my parents would love me,” she explained.
