  • Get ready to pay a lot more for your Amazon Prime membership in the UK and Europe.
  • Amazon has increased prices in some countries by up to 43%.
  • The changes will take effect starting September 15.

Inflation has come to bite Amazon Prime members across Europe and the UK. The platform is hiking up its Prime subscription fee in the regions by up to a whopping 43%.

The price of an annual Prime membership in the UK will go up from £79 to £95 (~$114). That’s a 20% jump.

European countries are getting an even steeper hike in Prime membership fees. French Prime members will see the price of an annual subscription go from €49 to €69.90 (~$70). That’s a hike of 43%.

In Germany, Prime members can expect a 30% increase in their annual Prime prices to €89.90 (~$91.25), up from €69.

According to Amazon, the revised prices will take effect from September 15, 2022, for new Prime members and those who renew their existing subscriptions. The company reportedly blames “increased inflation and operating costs” for the move.

The cracked-up Prime charges in Europe and UK follow a similar hike Amazon made in the US not so long ago. In February, Amazon raised the prices for its annual Prime membership in the US by 17%, from $119 to $139. The monthly fee also rose from $12.99 to $14.99.
