AMD has announced its new A620 chipset. This new platform will allow users to harness the power of the Ryzen 7000 series processor line-up. The company claims that the chipset will ship with the features and performance of the AM5 platform. AMD also promises that this chip will also offer “a streamlined, trusted platform” that will arrive with multiple connectivity and bandwidth options. This includes options like DDR5 memory, AMD EXPO technology, one-click memory overclocking, and up to 32x PCIe 4.0 lanes to satisfy demanding home and office users. AMD claims that these options will be able to “satisfy demanding home and office users.”
AMD A620 chipset: Price and availability
The AMD A620 chipset for Ryzen 7000 series processors starts at $85. These chipsets are already available since March 31. The AMD A620 processor platforms claim to bring next-gen PC performance at an affordable price and are accessible to everyone.
AMD A620 chipset: Key features
These new processor platforms support memory overclocking. Most models will support up to 6000 MHz DDR5 EXPO memory in a dual-channel, one-dim-per-channel configuration. However, these platforms don’t support processor overclocking, PBO and curve optimiser.
AMD claims that these new chipsets are ideal for Ryzen 7000 processors with a 65W TDP. Processor models that ship with higher TDPs will also boot with these platforms if the BIOS’ AGESA version supports them.

However, in such cases, the multi-threaded performance may be limited by VRM power limits. The company claims that these power limits will have minimal impact on game performance.
The company also claims that the A620 platform will also support a broad ecosystem. This includes brands like — ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Biostar. This will offer a wide portfolio of options for AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors.
