It was recently reported that WhatsApp is working on an ability to lock individual chats. Now a new report has surfaced online suggesting that the Meta-owned instant messaging app is working on a redesign.
WABetaInfo, the platform that keeps track of changes in WhatsApp builds, has reported that the popular messaging app is planning to tweak the interface of the app making it easier for the users to quickly access features like Chats, Calls, Communities and more.
WhatsApp on Android to look like iOS
The report states that the company is working on bringing a bottom navigation bar to the Android version of the app similar to what we see on iOS. The bottom navigation bar on the app will make it easier for the users to navigate between different sections of the app and will make all features more accessible. “The tweaked user interface that includes a bottom navigation bar is under development and it will be released in a future update of the app”, adds the report.
WhatsApp banned more than 45 lakh accounts in India
It has been reported that WhatsApp has banned over 4.5 million accounts in India, in compliance with the new IT Rules 2021. This information was disclosed in the monthly user safety report that WhatsApp is required to release under the Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules, 2021. The report stated that the banned accounts were a result of the company receiving an all-time high of 2,804 complaint reports in India in February, with 504 of these reports leading to remedial actions, which can include reinstating a previously banned account or banning an account.
“This user-safety report contains details of the user complaints received and the corresponding action taken by WhatsApp, as well as WhatsApp’s own preventive actions to combat abuse on our platform,” said a company spokesperson. “We will continue with transparency to our work and include information about our efforts in future reports,” the spokesperson added.
