Apple has added another iPad to its obsolete list of products this month. The tech giant has added the fourth-generation iPad to its obsolete list of products. It is worth noting that the fourth-generation iPad was the first iPad model to feature a Lightning connector. Apart from this, Apple has also added the iPhone 6 Plus smartphone in its vintage list.
What are vintage and obsolete Apple products
The company regularly adds devices to the vintage list that it stopped distributing for sale more than 5 and less than 7 years ago. However, Apple Stores and Apple Authorised Service Providers continue to offer repairs for vintage products for up to seven years. Apart from vintage products, there is something called obsolete products as well. Obsolete products, on the other hand, are those that were discontinued more than 7 years ago. The big difference is that vintage products do get hardware service from Apple whereas obsolete products get no support at all. Apple routinely updates this list and you can check the same on Apple’s support website.
As per a report by MacRumors, the fourth-generation ‌iPad‌ was marked as an obsolete product internally at Apple in November, but the public list of the products was updated now. To recall, this iPad model was announced by Apple in November of 2012. This iPas was claimed to be twice as fast as the previous model. It was also said to have three times better graphics than the last generation device. Apart from this, Apple has also marked the Mid-2010 and Late 2012 Mac mini models as obsolete.
