Apple has been rumoured to be working on the second-generation Apple AirPods Pro. Leaks and rumours have already dropped a few features and expected design of the upcoming TWS earbuds from the company. Rumours have also revealed that Apple might announce the new AirPods Pro later this year alongside the next-generation iPhone lineup.
Now, a new leak suggests that Apple is planning to implement a new feature that will allow users to track their workouts without the need of the iPhone.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Debby Wu claim that Apple AirPods 2 will feature built-in fitness sensors that will allow users to track their activities without being connected to the iPhone.
Samsung had already implemented something similar with the Gear IconX launched in 2018 that had fitness sensors embedded into them along with 4GB of storage space for those who want to listen to music during the workout. Samsung has now dropped the feature from their latest earbuds — Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy Buds 2.
Reports also suggest that Apple might allow for better activity tracking when the upcoming AirPods 2 will be paired with Apple Watch.
Apple is known for its implementation of features and tuning them to work to their best potential. However, it will be nice to see how Apple takes these sensors and makes them better on the next-generation AirPods.
It is to note that not much information is available regarding the upcoming AirPods Pro. But, leaks suggest that the second-generation AirPods Pro will likely feature a redesigned look and a smaller form factor than the ongoing mode. Also, the H1 chip, responsible for faster connectivity, audio processing and noise cancellation, will also be replaced with the next generation chip.
