Apple is reportedly planning to ditch the notch in the Pro models of Apple iPhone 14 series. Just like last two years, Apple is rumoured to launch four smartphones in the Apple iPhone 14 series – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. As per Twitter posts from display industry consultant Ross Young, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a hole-punch and a pill-shaped cutouts near the top of the display. Now, an alleged leaked schematic of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro supports the rumours about the cutouts.
Shared by Apple leaker Jon Presser, the image of the schematic first appeared on Weibo. The leaker claims that the design shown of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro seen in the schematic is legitimate.
As per Young’s tweets, Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will have the punch-hole cutout to house the front camera and the pill-shaped cutout will feature an infrared camera for Face ID. In a follow-up Tweet, the consultant also suggested that we may not be able to see an under display infrared camera until 2023 or 2024. This means that we can not expect the under display Face ID feature until iPhone 15 Pro.
The analyst also suggests that Apple will keep the ProMotion feature limited to iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple first introduced the ProMotion feature in iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max which were launched in September last year. For those who do not know, ProMotion adjusts the refresh rate of the display according to battery life and content on the screen.
According to the recent report, iPhone 14 Pro models will feature 8GB of RAM, highest in any iPhone till date. The post by user yeux1122 on the Korean blog Naver cited supply chain sources to reveal information about the memory components of the upcoming iPhone models. The newly launched Samsung Galaxy S22 is also backed by 8GB of RAM.
