Apple to bring USB-C charging to AirPods in 2023, claims tech analyst

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has made a new prediction and this latest one is about USB-C charging coming to Apple AirPods, as per a report by 9To5Mac. According to Kuo, Apple will bring USB-C charging to all the AirPods models by launching the USB-C-capable charging cases for them next year.
“I predict Apple will launch USB-C-capable charging cases for all AirPods models in 2023. However, the charging case of the new AirPods Pro 2 launched in 2H22 may still support Lightning.”, Kuo reportedly said.
New AirPods Pro will launch later this year but it doesn’t seem likely that Apple will ditch the Lightning connector on the true wireless earbuds with this year’s model.

The tech analyst had made a similar prediction in May, saying that Apple would introduce USB-C charging to iPhones, AiPods and other accessories like the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse accessories for Mac, plus the MagSafe Battery Pack accessory for iPhone.
The iPhone 15, in all likelihood, will launch next year. The tech analyst’s claim is in line with earlier reports that claimed that Apple will introduce USB-C charging to the iPhones in 2023. It might be the case that Apple has decided to switch most of its gadgets to USB-C by next year as it is facing a lot of pressure from the European Union to switch to USB-C.
Kuo also recently claimed that the Apple AR/MR headset would be unveiled in January 2023. The mixed reality headset is looking to be a gamble for the company. According to the tech analyst, the headset from the company will be a niche product in its first generation at least and will probably launch with a price tag in the range of $2000-2500. Go higher than this price range and it might affect the shipments, he said.
