Apple is rumoured to be on the verge of unveiling its highly anticipated virtual reality headset to the world.

According to the latest edition of the Power On newsletter from Bloomberg, the tech giant is expected to announce the device this spring, with a release date scheduled for the fall of 2023. This comes after years of various developments and speculations about the company’s entry into the VR market.

The “Reality Pro” VR headset is reported to be a mixed-reality headset, allowing for both virtual and augmented reality experiences. The headset will reportedly come with a new operating system by Apple called the xrOS, which is being developed specifically for this device. The report also stated that a few high-profile software developers have already been given the opportunity to test the device, allowing them to get a head start on developing third-party apps.

Despite the rumors, specific details about the headset such as its resolution, what peripherals it would support, and compatibility were not mentioned in the report. This information is expected to be shared when the device is officially announced, likely before the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

There is no word yet on how much Apple’s “Reality Pro” VR headset would cost. It is likely to be ultra-expensive. According to the report by Mark Gurman, Apple has “roped in resources” to ensure a smooth launch for the device. Gurman also stated that the company still has many kinks to work out with the device, such as hardware, software, and services. Things such as its marketing also remain to be worked out. Apple is relying on the headset as its big introduction for the year. Previous reports suggested that the headset is likely to have the powerful M2 chip, which would make it one of the biggest launches of the year for Apple.
