Assassin’s Creed Red To Feature Samurai And Shinobi As Main Characters, Focus On Stealth

Assassin’s Creed Red, the upcoming entry in the open-world series by Ubisoft, will feature two different main characters and a focus on stealth gameplay, according to a new online report.

As reported on Insider Gaming, the upcoming game set in the Feudal Japan era will feature two playable characters, a female samurai and a Shinobi with an interesting backstory, as the character will reportedly be an African refugee who has learned the way of the Creed.

Starring a Shinobi among its playable characters, it is no surprise to learn that Assassin’s Creed Red’s gameplay will be focused on stealth. According to the new report, developer Ubisoft Quebec looked at series like Splinter Cell and Hitman to introduce mechanics like hiding, snuffing out lights, etc. All of these features, reportedly, are already implemented in the game.

It’s quite interesting to see the Assassin’s Creed series returning to its stealth roots more and more with upcoming entries in the series. The next entry in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, will also see a return to the classic gameplay of the series and the removal of the role-playing game mechanics which were introduced in the series since the days of Assassin’s Creed Origins.

While the focus on RPG elements brought to the removal of many of the features that made the series so unique, it did not lead to bad games, as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a solid game with a massive amount of content that does a great job making the experience compelling from beginning to end, as I highlighted in my review.

Assassin’s Creed Red is only one of the many entries in the series currently in development. It will release on a yet-to-be-confirmed release and on yet-to-be-announced platforms.
