ASUS ROG Phone 7 launched: Peak performance (and price)

TL;DR

  • The ASUS ROG Phone 7 and its Ultimate counterpart are official.
  • The phones have the latest hardware, an updated selfie cam, and some new software tricks.
  • With US pricing still unknown, you’ll pay at least €999 (~$1,084) for the entry-level model.

Historically, ASUS has made the best gaming phone of each year. Although 2023 is far from over, its latest entry into the fold could continue that streak.

Today, the company officially unveiled the ASUS ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Ultimate. True to form, the phones deliver unparalleled performance, gaming-centric software features, and nifty accessories to amp up your gaming experience.

Really, the only major drawback about this year’s models is the lack of upgrades over last year. The processor got the expected upgrade to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The selfie cam got a bump to a 32MP sensor, the design got some minor alterations, and the new AeroActive Cooler 7 accessory () has a subwoofer for the first time. Other than those upgrades, however, you won’t find much here that you didn’t see with the ROG Phone 6 Pro.

Below, we have the official specs of the phones. Further down, we have pricing and availability. To find out all the info you need, though, be sure to check out our full ASUS ROG Phone 7 review.

As of launch day, ASUS has only told us European pricing for the ROG Phone 7 phones. The regular Phone 7 — with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage — starts at €999 (~$1,084). It comes in either Phantom Black or Storm White. There will also be a variant of this model with an upgrade to 16GB of RAM, but we don’t know the price yet.

Meanwhile, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate starts at €1,399 (~$1,519). It only has one configuration (16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage) and one colorway (Matte White). There are only a handful of differences between the vanilla and Ultimate models. The Ultimate has a customizable ROG Vision external color display, an AeroActive Portal (which allows you to connect the AeroActive Cooler to the phone directly), and it comes in a giant box with the AeroActive Cooler 7 accessory.

Considering ASUS has only told us European pricing, we can only confirm European availability for now. However, it is almost assured that ASUS will offer these phones in plenty of other locations later in 2023, including the United States. We just don’t know when and we don’t know what it will cost.

If you live in Europe, though, pre-orders are open now.
