Stan Wawrinka simply existed at the wrong time, yet still managed to win three grand slam titles while the Big Three were at their peak – a phenomenal achievement.

Wawrinka broke through for his first major title at the 2014 Australian Open, defeating world No.1 Rafael Nadal in the final. He added to that with the French Open title in 2015, then a US Open title in 2016, beating Novak Djokovic in both deciders.

At his best, he was a beast on all surfaces. He battled injury for the past few seasons, but is back in the top 150 (139) and in the Australian Open main draw.

At 37, fans need to enjoy all we can of Wawrinka.
