After producing top scores in the final-20 and final-12 events of the women’s moguls, the 23-year-old from Cairns again outdid her rivals in the super final to be crowned Olympic champion.
Anthony was the last to perform in the super final and scored 83.09 to snare Australia’s first Winter Olympic gold since the 2010 Vancouver Games.
American Jaelin Kauf claimed the silver medal with a score of 80.28 and Russian Anastasiia Smirnova (77.72) collected bronze.
Broadcasting professional Tristan Foenander is among the many people to have lauded Anthony’s supreme achievement.
“Absolutely stunning performance by Jakara Anthony!” Foenander wrote on Twitter.
“Delivered under unimaginable pressure and had Australians all over the country on the edge of their sofas.”
