Tiger Shroff turns 32 today. He was born to Ayesha Shroff and actor Jackie Shroff in 1990 and is recognised for his action scenes and dancing abilities. His parents called him Jai Hemant Shroff at the time of his birth, but he went by his nickname, Tiger, when he entered the film industry. In an old interview, the actor explained how he came to be recognised by this unique alias rather than his real name, Jai.

Tiger revealed in a 2014 interview that the name came from people comparing him to a tiger due to his tendency of biting. “I used to bite as a kid … I liked to bite everyone around,” he said.

The actor revealed that one of his victims was a teacher from his school. “I bit my teacher in school, and even got punished for that,” he recounted.

Tiger’s uncommon name prompted him to rescue the animal after whom he was named. In 2014, the actor adopted Lee, a tigress from Nagpur’s Maharajbagh zoo, whom he met while promoting Heropanti alongside Kriti Sanon at the time. He explained his choice to adopt Lee by using a famous Spiderman line: “With great power comes great responsibility.”

While many anticipated him to follow in his father’s footsteps and enter Bollywood, the actor said that he initially intended to pursue a different professional path.”I was more into sports … football was my favourite,” he explained, ” but then even as a kid I knew that I was being watched … my father’s friends would keep talking about seeing me in Bollywood, someday.”
