Starting with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam where we fell in love with Aishwarya’s outfits as soon as we same them, our favourite being the pastel peach lehenga. The embellished blouse and minimalistic lehenga was ahead of it’s time. From the embroidered organza pink saree to the blue salwar kameez, her looks in Mohabbatein were definitely trendsetters. At the same time, Dhoom 2 was trendsetting in its own way. From two piece sets to jumpsuits, Aishwarya brought in a whole new wave of fashion. The blue and white co-ord set was what left the biggest impact.
Devdas, Guru and Jodha Akbar were instrumental game changers not only for the audience but also costume designers, and they set new standards for stunning, over the top traditional wear. The elaborate pieces, exquisite detailed handiwork and stunning jewellery radiated opulence, extravagance, and glamour. Even in 2022, when Aishwarya returned to her traditional avatar on the big screen with Ponniyin Selvan: I, her charm and style was intact.
Lastly, let’s not forget Aishwarya’s small yet memorable moment in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil that gave us some unforgettable inspiration.
