UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath came to New Delhi on Wednesday to participate in a crucial party meeting over the next government formation in UP. Along with Adityanath, state BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh, state general secretary Sunil Bansal and the two deputy CMs Keshav Maurya and Dinesh Sharma also attended the meeting. From the central team, party president JP Nadda, general secretary (organisation) BL Santosh, UP in-charge Radha Mohan Singh and UP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan were also part of the meeting.

Sources told ET that the meeting was held to give final approval to the list of 36 candidates for MLC elections in the state. At the same time, they also discussed the new cabinet formation. On Tuesday night, a meeting of PM Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah, JP Nadda and Pradhan had taken place at the PM’s residence regarding the next government and cabinet in the state.

Some state leaders were of the opinion that the number of deputy CMs should be increased this time to give leadership space to more castes. The central leadership is still mulling over these suggestions and a final decision will be taken in two-three days. The party claims that a large number of women and SC voters have voted for the BJP. The cabinet formation will be an attempt to balance the caste equation along with young faces.
