It’s the match-up the NRL has been waiting for, and finally Brandon Smith will return to AAMI Park to play against his former teammates from the Melbourne Storm.
Melbourne captain Christian Welch lit the fuse last week, speaking to Nine after his side’s 18-10 win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
“The Cheese (Smith), we’re coming for you big boy,” he laughed.
“See you then, Thursday.”
Smith wasn’t holding back in his rebuttal, identifying who his side will target from the opposition.
“Christian Welch, we’re coming for you big boy,” he said on The Bye Round podcast.
“I’ll pick my time, he’s quite a big boy so I don’t want to get him too angry.
“I’ll let the heavyweights fight it out and then I’ll come nibble their ankles.”
And while Smith might have a soft spot for his former teammates, the crafty hooker has been delivering Chooks coach Trent Robinson with valuable information leading into the clash.
“I’ve told (Robbo) all the secrets I have, I know all the calls – hopefully they haven’t changed them,” he said.
