Brayden Maynard and Nathan Kreuger face suspension for Collingwood, Nathan Murphy suspected dislocated ankle.

Collingwood are facing the prospect of beginning the season without defender Brayden Maynard, who has been charged by the match review officer for a brutal hit during yesterday’s trial match.

Maynard has been handed a two-game ban for a careless, high-impact striking charge on Giants utility Daniel Lloyd, which left him concussed.

They could also lose Nathan Kreuger for the season opener after he was charged with a one-match suspension for a bump Callan Ward – although Kreuger came off second best, concussing himself in the process.

The pair of Nathan Murphy and Pat Lipinski also had scans on injuries today for ankle concerns.

“It was a bit disappointing, not the ideal way to debut, I guess,” Lipinski told 9News today.

“I’m not sure yet, it’s pretty recent, less than 24 hours, but hopeful that I’ll play in round one.”

Murphy was on crutches when he spoke today.

“We’re thinking dislocation, but I don’t want to go too early on it just in case it’s nothing and I’ve gone a bit dramatic. But it definitely felt like something popped out and in at the same time.”
