Brentford and Wolves had their Premier League clash on Saturday bizarrely halted as a drone caused players to be withdrawn from the pitch. Referee Peter Bankes stopped play around the half-hour mark as an unauthorised drone was spotted flying above the Brentford Community Stadium.

Both teams were forced to leave the pitch after the object appeared, with it being considered a potential safety risk.

The players headed to their respective dressing rooms while both sets of fans are reported to have chanted ‘who’s the w***** with the drone?’

Play was stopped for around 15 minutes before both set of players returned to the pitch.

They were allowed a short warm-up before play continued. The score at the time was goalless and remained so until half-time.

It was the second lengthy stoppage in play during the fixture. An early clash of heads between Mathias Jensen and Rico Henry forced both players off.

Mads Roerslev and Shandon Baptiste replaced the duo as concussion substitutes. The stricken pair left the pitch clutching their bloodied faces.
