Brisbane Broncos v Gold Coast Titans, Adam Reynolds, 2000 points

Marquee Brisbane recruit Adam Reynolds joined a special band of players as he steered the Broncos to a 16-12 win over the Titans on Saturday night, cracking the 2000-point club in a gripping affair on the Gold Coast.

Reynolds became the eighth man in history to register 2000 career points as the Broncos, now placed fifth on the ladder, collected a vital win in their push for a top-four berth.

After Reynolds darted onto a Tyson Gamble offload to bag a try during the second half, the Brisbane halfback and Canberra centre Jarrod Croker are the only current players to have reached the 2000-point mark.

Cameron Smith, Hazem El Masri, Johnathan Thurston, Andrew Johns, Jason Taylor and Daryl Halligan make up the rest of the group.

“It’s obviously pleasing,” Reynolds told Fox League after the match.

“A lot of the players that I’ve played with — it’s an accolade for them, too. I’m not the (same) player without those players behind me.

“It’s probably something I’ll look back (on) at the end of my career.

“But for now, I’ll hopefully just keep scoring points.”

Only three players — Reynolds, Johns and Halligan — tallied 2000 points in less than 250 games.

Reynolds played his 244th match in the win over the Titans and, pending fitness, will run out for his 250th game when the Broncos meet the Eels in Brisbane in round 24.

RCG responds to ‘absolutely ludicrous’ Origin claims

Reynolds surpassed Eric Simms as the Rabbitohs’ greatest-ever points-scorer in his final season with South Sydney last year.

The Broncos defeated the Titans despite the absences of State of Origin representatives Selwyn Cobbo, Corey Oates, Patrick Carrigan and Kurt Capewell.

Brisbane is also missing Payne Haas, Herbie Farnworth, Cory Paix and several others due to injury.
