Starting my staycation at London Paddington station, I took a 75-minute train journey to Bristol Parkway, before a short taxi ride to the spa. We roll up outside the front doors and make our way to the front desk. Behind us, there’s the spacious lounge which has plenty of different seating areas, so whether you’re enjoying afternoon tea or catching up on emails before checking in, there’s an array of options.

I had arrived mid-afternoon, with plenty of time to enjoy the facilities before dinner.
Boasting a very comfy bed, my stunning twin bedroom had all the amenities I could need, from the White Company toiletries to its own capsule coffee machine.
Want to take your Americano down to the spa but don’t have your travel mug? No problem – there are takeaway coffee cups provided.
In a bid to reduce waste, I was impressed to find guests can get filtered water and milk if they wish to, from dispensers on each floor.

After dropping my bags in my room, I pulled on my fluffy spa robe and headed downstairs.
There’s a coffee area in the spa reception room, where you can peruse the papers each day, while poolside, you can find recliners plus a table and chairs.
If lounging with a tipple in hand takes your fancy, you can also order drinks from the friendly team.
While clearly popular, the venue isn’t overcrowded. There’s a large hot tub, plus a pool, sauna and steam room also in the spa, and I rarely found myself sharing these spaces with other guests.

Having worked up an appetite with several lengths of the pool, we made our way to The Curious Kitchen, the spa hotel’s restaurant.
I opted for a delicious “Bocconcini, Tomato, Basil” small plate to start, followed by the “Casareccia” pasta dish from the bar menu.
The service was fabulous and friendly, ideal for a mid-week evening catch-up with a close friend.
Of particular interest with their decor was their wine cellar, an entirely transparent room at the restaurant entrance.

Breakfast was also served in the restaurant, with all sorts to choose from on the menu.
There’s no need to leave the table either as it’s a la carte rather than a buffet.
It wasn’t long before we were back by the pool, spending some time reading the news with a coffee while reclining on the loungers.
Amid our afternoon of unwinding, there was even more relaxation in store. After a luxurious 25-minute treatment, I was taken to the new Relax Lounge.
Beautifully decorated, there are comfortable lounge chairs where guests can continue their rest and recuperation.
Standing out from typical post-treatment lounges, this venue boasts its own refreshment bar, with snacks, smoothie shots and herbal teas all available.
There’s a beauty bar and new manicure and pedicure stations for those seeking further pampering too, and all sorts of Caudalie and Neom products to sample, making it the perfect way to end our wellness escape.
