According to statista, around 27 percent of 35 to 44 year olds in South Africa were unemployed at the end of 2022.

A World Bank report, published in 2022, found that South Africa was the most unequal country in the world with 10 percent of the population owning more than 80 percent of the country’s wealth. The report found that the legacy of colonialism and apartheid continued to reinforce inequality in South Africa.
