Property experts, idealista, looked at house prices to see where Spain’s most expensive neighbourhoods are. Where are the priciest areas for British expats?
The most expensive area to buy a house was a beautiful hotspot on the popular island of Ibiza.
Es Cubells has the most expensive property in Spain at a cost of 8,861 euros (£7,418) per square metre.
The tiny village has incredible views, a church and a couple of bars. Many of the villas on the rocky cliffside are highly sought after.
Expats who purchase property in Es Cubells will be guaranteed privacy as the village is outside busy areas.

One visitor to the nearby Es Vedra viewing point said: “It is undoubtedly the best place to see the sunset in Ibiza. A magical place.”
Expats with cash to splash can currently purchase a stunning villa in Es Cubells with a huge swimming pool, four bedrooms and sea views.
The property costs a whopping six million euros (£5.02million) and is situated in a gated community.
The second most expensive neighbourhood in Spain was Recoletos in the capital city of Madrid.

Property in Recoletos costs 8,500 euros (£7,115) per square metre and prices had risen in the last two years.
One of Madrid’s most exclusive areas, Recoletos has classic architecture and wide leafy streets.
Expats in Recoletos will be close to some of Madrid’s major attractions as well as the city’s international airport.
A five bedroom apartment in the neighbourhood is currently listed for 3.9 million euros (£3.2million).
In third place was the Miraconcha neighbourhood in San Sebastian in northern Spain.
Property in Miraconcha costs 7,243 euros (£6,064) per square metre but prices have fallen since 2019.
The beautiful coastal city of San Sebastian is known for its culinary delights and stunning beaches.
San Sebastian is a popular destination with surfers while the La Concha beach is perfect for swimming.
The tiny island of Formentera in the Balearics had the fourth most expensive property in Spain at 7,930 euros (£6,640) per square metre.
Only reachable by ferry from its busy neighbour, Ibiza, the island is a luxurious place for expats to live.
A five bedroom property in Formentera costs 2.6 million euros (£2.17million) and comes with a beautiful swimming pool.
The fifth most expensive area for property was Jerónimos in Madrid at 7,148 euros (£5,985) per square metre.
