Queen Camilla, 75, wore several brooches throughout the mourning period after Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8. It is likely that during her husband’s reign, Camilla will continue to wear brooches to convey a hidden message.

These brooches were always assumed to convey a hidden message, and royal experts have wondered whether Queen Camilla will do the same.

She said: “As Camilla, the Queen Consort adjusted to her new role during an emotionally heavy week for the Royal Family, she paid fitting tributes to the Queen through jewellery steeped in history, just as the late Queen Elizabeth II had done. She is following in the footsteps of the late Queen, taking pointers from the iconic late monarch’s distinctive style.

“On September 9, during her first royal walkabout in London as Queen alongside King Charles to view the floral tributes to the Queen outside Buckingham Palace, Camilla wore a diamond knot brooch.
“It was both, historic, as it was among her first pieces of jewellery as Queen, and poignant, as knots symbolise eternal love and unbreakable bonds. Perhaps a double tribute, for her strong regard for her late mother-in-law and her long-time devotion to her husband,” the expert claimed.
What types of jewellery does Camilla usually like to wear?
Daena explained: “Camilla has been known to wear many of the Queen Mother’s pieces of jewellery, including her £100,000 art deco engagement ring that Prince Charles used to propose to her, which was originally a gift to the Queen Mother at the birth of the then Princess Elizabeth. Camilla also wore the Queen Mother’s Rock Crystal brooch. It used to be much favoured by the late Queen Mother to wear on the brim of her hats when she was Duchess of York.”

“Next, for the procession of Her Majesty’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall, Camilla sported an eye-catching stick insect brooch, believed to be a gift from her father. It is valued at over £40,000. Stick insects are resilient creatures as they skillfully blend into their surroundings, with some cultures perceiving them as symbols of change and transformation.”
What did Camilla wear for Elizabeth II’s funeral?
Daena continued: “For the state funeral, Camilla wore Queen Victoria’s Hesse Diamond Jubilee brooch, given to Queen Victoria by her grandchildren on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.
“The brooch has a diamond-studded heart-shaped pin inside which the number 60 is depicted in Cyrillic numerals studded with more diamonds. The brooch was a nod to the late Queen Elizabeth’s seven decades of dedicated service. There are also three blue sapphires that make the brooch stand out, a moving tribute to the late monarch’s ‘wonderful blue eyes’ on which Queen Camilla had commented in a television tribute.”
