The force has been told to re-examine a complaint by Ms Flack’s mother Christine, who said her daughter was treated differently by officers because of her fame.

The Met yesterday confirmed the Independent Office for Police Conduct had ordered it to reinvestigate this specific aspect of the case.

Love Island host Ms Flack committed suicide at the age of 40 in February 2020.A coroner later ruled she had taken her own life after learning prosecutors were going to press ahead with an assault charge over an incident involving her boyfriend Lewis Burton.

Christine, who remains “sad and really angry” with the Met, said: “I just want those answers to make me feel better and to make me know that I’ve done the right thing by Caroline. I just want the truth out there.”

It comes as a new photo portrait of the star was released by artists the Connor Brothers, with all proceeds going to Calm, the suicide prevention charity, and the refugee charity Choose Love, whose cause Ms Flack championed.
