CDPR Settles the Launch Related Lawsuit for $1.85 Million; Game Receives First Award Since the Release
We all know the game Cyberpunk 2077 is today, which drastically differs from its state at launch in 2020. The CD Projekt RED-developed title had the rockiest launches in gaming history to say the least. The hype and anticipation that was built around the title was unsurmountable and naturally when it came out, people were downright pissed that it wasn’t even at a functional level.
When Cyberpunk 2077 released, it was plagued with bugs and glitches. Many people saw the game not even work on their platform and for some it even broke their console. This obviously didn’t look too nice for CDPR, therefore, platforms like Sony took the game off its store and offered to reinstate it when it was at a playable level. Many distributors also had to issue refunds for the title as well.
Cyberpunk 2077 Class Action Lawsuit Settled
That was not all though, as CD Projekt RED investors also jumped in on the train and had some issues they wanted to clarify too. They filed a class-action lawsuit on the company, stating that the investors weren’t made aware of the state of the game at launch. They weren’t informed about the fact that the game was not ready for launch at all.
After a long and strenuous time at the courts, the lawsuit has finally been settled. As spotted by GameSpot, the class action lawsuit has been settled for an amount of $1.85 million, payable by CD Projekt RED.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gets Labor of Love Award
But that wasn’t everything that CD Projekt RED did. Months following Cyberpunk 2077’s release, the developers kept working on the game, trying to make it better each passing day. Finally, they reached a level where the game was intended to be and started bringing in major sales. Cyberpunk 2077 was also one of the best sellers on Steam for a limited period of time in 2022.
This effort and pure passion to make the game better for the fans did not go unnoticed, as it received the Labor of Love at the Steam Awards 2022. This was also the first award the title has received since the game released back in 2020.

Lastly, Twitter has found a movie that is eerily close to Cyberpunk 2077, called Strange Days. Spotted by Kotaku, the movie is directed by Kathryn Bigelow, written by James Cameron and Jay Cocks, and stars Ralph Fiennes, Angela Basset and Juliette Lewis.
Everything from the lingo, the setting, the music and characters, all look like they have been influenced from a distant future. What’s more is that the movie also has its own form of Brain Dance called Wiretripping, where CDs gives memories and sensations of the recorder to the user. It is a one to watch if you are a fan of dystopian future settings.
