Chelsea news: Frank Lampard delivers good news for Mykhaylo Mudryk and six others | Football | Sport

Frank Lampard has promised his Chelsea squad they will all receive the chance to wipe the slate clean after taking over from Graham Potter as caretaker boss. The Stamford Bridge icon is back for his second spell in charge of his former side and now he wants the Blues to make something of their season by finding their goalscoring form.

Lampard was sacked by Everton in January but now he’s looking to breathe new life into Chelsea and his coaching career after a turbulent campaign that has presented challenge after challenge.

One of the biggest pluses for the squad is that Lampard wants every player to forget what happened under Potter and focus on the here and now.

“Everyone can have a clean slate as such right now. In terms of the goalscoring, there is no genius answer,” Lampard said.

“You can set up the structure, we saw that against Liverpool with chances. I’ll be here to work with repetition, to get the mindset to score goals.

“I know there is a lot of talent. I’m excited to work with them and help them.”

The message is good news for the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, former favourite Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Conor Gallagher, Hakim Ziyech and Carney Chukwuemeka who have all had disappointing seasons for whatever reason in west London.

Lampard took the time to praise Mount, who flourished under his tutelage at both Derby and Chelsea, claiming he needs to be given the confidence to turn things around.

“I know he’s had a few injury problems. I know what I get from Mason. I want to see him perform on the pitch. He’s a huge player for Chelsea,” he said on Mount.

He later added on the player’s situation: “I don’t know enough about it to talk about it. It would be wrong for me to delve into anything. Mason has always been a fantastic player for me, among others – Reece James, Tammy Abraham, [Fikayo] Tomori and others.”

Mount is out of contract in the summer of 2024 and as things stand, looks likely to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Lampard spent time developing young players during his first spell as boss with the club when he was rocked by a transfer ban.

The 44-year-old could be the ideal figure to get Mudryk fit and firing after such a difficult start to life in the capital following his £88million transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

Mudryk didn’t appear to tickle Potter’s fancy during his final months with the club despite a few starts and several cameos from the bench.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang could be the man to fix Chelsea’s struggles in front of goal even if his long-term future at Chelsea remains in doubt.

Kai Havertz and Joao Felix both struggled in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool and with Chelsea still creating a number of chances, Aubameyang could prove to be a handy solution for the final months of the season.

Lampard’s goal-scoring exploits in midfield during his playing career could also help academy graduate Gallagher, who has failed to force his way into Chelsea’s starting line up this season.
