Google has been working on improving the Chrome Web Store by cleaning up the clutter, and adding better privacy and security. Now, it appears that the company is planning to implement a way to help users find high-quality extensions for the web browser.
In that effort, the company introduced a new badge in the Chrome Web Store. The new badge will be named Featured and according to 9to5Google’s report, the extensions carrying the Featured badge will have better quality and the extension has been evaluated by Chrome team members and also follows technical best practices.
According to the report, extensions with Featured badge will also follow privacy guidelines to offer better privacy and security. In addition to that, they will be based on the company’s latest APIs.
Also, these badges will appear just below the title of the extension in Blue colour and hovering over it will reveal more details about the app and the developer of that particular extension.
Chrome extension developers can receive the Featured badging by submitting their extension for review from the support page under My item -> I want to nominate my extension.
Although, the badge and the review submission process aren’t live on the store as of now and Google hasn’t revealed the exact timeline when users will start seeing the Featured badge in the Chrome Web Store.
