Italy and Lazio striker Ciro Immobile was whizzed to hospital on Sunday morning after being involved in a horror car accident. The 33-year-old was reportedly driving with his children when a tram crashed into the vehicle, leaving it in a heap and prompting concern about his family’s wellbeing.

According to local media, Immobile was driving with his two daughters in Rome when the worrying crash unfolded near Lazio’s home stadium, the Stadio Olimpico.

The Italy captain and his kids emerged from the car without serious injuries, though he complained that his arm was in a bit of pain.

He told AG TW at the scene: “The tram ran a red light. Luckily I’m fine. My arm just hurts a little.”

Horrendous images show the damage inflicted on Immobile’s Land Rover, with the front of the SUV taking the brunt of the collision.

He also has a son with his wife, Jessica Melena, and reports that only his daughters were in the car are unconfirmed.

Police are investigating the incident.

Immobile is a pillar of Italian football, earning 55 caps for the national team since his debut in 2014.

He helped guide Italy to Euro 2020 glory two years ago as Roberto Mancini’s side broke England hearts in the Wembley Stadium final.

Immobile started his club career at Sorrento. Stints at Juventus, Genoa, Torino, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla followed.

After moving to Lazio in 2016, he has become a club icon after scoring 194 goals in 284 games to become their record goalscorer.
