People who claim Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance should contact Jobcentre Plus to update their details if they have had a baby or a child under give has come to live with them.

The Cold Weather Payment has been replaced in Scotland with the Winter Heating Payment.

This is an annual £50 payment to all eligible people regardless of how cold the weather is, with people to receive their payments for this winter from February 2023.

Who is eligible for the Cold Weather Payment?

Most pensioners on Pension Credit will get the payment to help with their extra costs during the cold weather.

Income Support and income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

  • Claimants will usually get the payments if they have any of the following:
  • A disability or pensioner premium
  • A child who is disabled
  • Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element
  • A child under five living with them.
