Cold Weather Payments triggered in 28 new postcodes as snow and ice hit | Personal Finance | Finance
Richard Neudegg, the director of Regulation, Compliance and Policy at USwitch, outlined how useful the scheme is in helping people with their skyrocketing energy bills.
Mr Neudegg explained: “Temperatures have plummeted overnight, and the Government will be issuing £25 Cold Weather Payments to those eligible and living in the coldest areas.
“Cold Weather Payments help many vulnerable households including older people and disabled families to keep the heating on when they might not be able to afford it.
“Nearly £100million was paid out in 2020-2, and higher bills this winter mean the payments are more valuable than ever this year.”
