Posey explained that this meant Coolio’s body had an inability to fight back.

Following the heartbreaking announcement, Posey added that Coolio’s children will remember their dad for the person he was.

Coolio’s loved ones are planning to honour his incredible legacy in music through TV documentaries and a film.

His family are also hoping to continue the rapper’s legacy in the industry.

At the time of the hip hop star’s death last year, sources claimed to TMZ that no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found at the scene.

Posey, who shared the news, told the outlet in 2022 that Coolio was unresponsive to calls for him to return from the bathroom while visiting a friend in LA.

When Coolio failed to respond, his friend reportedly went to check on the performer.

Coolio’s pal then found the star collapsed on the bathroom floor.

Coolio is reported to have been pronounced dead at the scene after his friend called the emergency services to check on him.

The performer rose to fame as part of the iconic Los Angeles music scene in the late 1980s.

He then gained fans worldwide after the release of his ’90s hit Gangsta’s Paradise.

The song, which went on to be Coolio’s biggest hit, became well-known after being recorded as part of the soundtrack for Michelle Pfeiffer’s film Dangerous Minds.

Hollywood actress Michelle was one of the first to pay tribute to Coolio, writing on social media shortly aftrer his death: “Heartbroken to hear of the passing of the gifted artist @coolio. A life cut entirely too short. As some of you may know I was lucky enough to work with him on Dangerous Minds in 1995.

“He won a Grammy for his brilliant song on the soundtrack – which I think was the reason our film saw so much success.”
